[Cat DIY] We succeeded in preventing the invasion of kittens into the back of the TV stand by making full use of Daiso products!

Cats like narrow spaces! The two kittens in our house also enter various places.
It would be nice if there was nothing, but there are cables on the back of the TV stand, which is dangerous in various ways.

Therefore, it is necessary to prevent the invasion of kittens, but until now, we have provided a fairly simple wall.
I can’t afford to leave it as it is, so I tried to make it a little more decent.

TV stand of my home before DIY work

The TV stand I am currently using is a TV stand that I bought on the Internet more than 5 years ago.
I searched online shops such as Amazon, but I couldn’t find the exact same TV stand anymore.

The horizontal size of this TV stand can be changed, and the length of the shelf can be extended to the side. Due to its function, the shelf in the middle is movable in size and has no door.

The gap in the middle shelf is sized so that kittens want to enter.
However, we cannot let them enter freely.

Behind the TV stand

There are many game consoles as well as TVs, so the back side is crowded with various cords.

Even if a cat gets on the back side and there is damage, it would be nice if the damage was small, such as “the cable comes off” or “it gets dirty with dust and comes back”.

There is also the danger of “getting entangled and getting stuck” or “getting an electric shock by biting the cable”, and it is also a dangerous place for kittens that it is difficult to rescue if they get stuck in the back.

The wall that used to block the gap

As a result of looking around the room to see if there is any good way!

The lid of the costume case was miraculously the right size! However, since this wall is only placed, even a kitten can easily defeat it.

As a countermeasure, every time a kitten knocks down the wall, a human rebuilds the wall to prevent invasion.

The energetic kittens quickly knock down the wall.

And the most disappointing thing is that it doesn’t look good.

I installed a cat intrusion prevention fence by DIY!

I have to do something about this. I measured the size of the TV stand and searched for something good at home improvement stores and 100-yen shops.

I installed a door like this!

All the materials used this time are purchased at a 100-yen shop!

  • Wire net (54.5cm x 33cm) x4
  • Wire net (29.5cm x 29.5cm) x1
  • Wire net hanging hook x2
  • Connecting joint x1 (* Finally unused)

The total purchase price is ¥ 864!

The DIY work this time is just a door that hooks a wire net of the right size with a screw-type hanging hook.

The gap between the shelf and the wall

There was a gap between the shelf and the wall on the TV stand.
A color box shelf was placed on the side of the TV.
By placing a MUJI unit shelf shelf under the TV, we prevented the gap where kittens could enter.

The left side of the TV stand is closed with a cat cage.

The right side is also blocked. This will be described later.

What failed in this DIY work.

This DIY work is a method that I came up with after finding a wire net of the right size at a 100-yen shop. There were some mistakes because the measurements were appropriate.

Right side of the television

In my TV stand, there was no place to put some equipment. Therefore, the TV stand was separated from the wall and placed the color box on top and making a simple storage place.

It will be closed because it will be a cat’s entry as well as other places. At the stage of collecting materials …

Close the front with a wire net. It was planned to make lids with a consolidated joint and about 30 cm wire net.

A long wire nets will arrive on the right floor with wire net weights. That is my failure.
Oh … I did not think completely.

Even if you get on the floor, you can prevent the most goal of “preventing the invasion of a cat” … but … still want to improve …

So I decided to look for the closet. As a result, I discovered just good size items!

In order to use a small steel shelf I found, first put a long wire net vertically.

This will prevent cats from entering.

Place a small steel shelf that I found earlier before the wire net.

In the original plan, the wire net scheduled to be the upper lid became the door of the shelf!

This is completed!

Yes! I feel good! It may be better than the original plan!

I would like to say that I was planning to do this (laughs)

Television depth

This TV stand has the ability to slide and change the horizontal length. Depending on its function, the depth of the TV stand is slightly different depending on the location.

The orientation of the hanging hook was changed. Is this idea good idea?

I was able to install it with a good feeling!

When you look at the handle part of the drawer below …

The wire net is floating because the handling part comes out.

I do not mind because it is not a big deal.

Hanging hook

I thought I bought a set of four hooks in the same shape. The four contents were hooks with different forms.

The hooks shown above in the photo have a sense of stability. But there is not much impact, so it’s okay.

DIY Usability after work

The biggest purpose of this work is to prevent cat intrusion. It will be completely prevented!

It looks like a little inexpensive. Still, it feels better than before working DIY

Open the wire net a little. You can get something to put in.

Wire net removal is easy.

Of course, don’t forget to pay attention to the cat.

In this way, the usability is also personal satisfaction.

At the end of this article.

This time, I tried using the word “cat DIY”, but if I searched for Google in “Cat DIY”, I found it only a super high-level thing. Everyone is too excellent …

Now I’m still a low level, but I would like to do a high level DIY someday!
